Allow Your Tattoo to Heal Properly

It is important to understand that during the healing period of your tattoo the skin is open and susceptible to infection. Although your tattoo may not hurt anymore it may still be healing. Practicing good hygiene, staying hydrated, following aftercare, and living a healthy life will make for a smoother healing time. After your tattoo has healed you may find that you need a small touch up, you can contact the artist who tattooed you to set a time up.

Remove any bandage/ plastic wrap that your artist may have put over the new tattoo.

Wash your new tattoo with anti-bacterial soap using your hand be sure to massage the area thoroughly (maybe sore the first day or two but you have to do it). Rinse the tattoo clean with water and pat dry with paper towel.

Apply a small coat of Aquaphore and massage into the tattooed area for about 30 seconds and then wipe away any excess with a paper towel. If your tattoo looks greasy or shiny after applying Aquaphore you have applied too much/ or not worked it completely into the skin.

You should do this for 3 to 4 days but no more than 5, it is possible to use for too long/too much and can prolong the healing process.

After 3 to 4 days switch to a non scented lotion (Lubriderm) as needed for dry flaky skin.

Continue to wash your tattoo at least 2 times a day until it is completely healed.

BE SURE TO WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE TOUCHING YOUR NEW TATTOO THROUGH THE HEALING PROCESS TO AVOID ANY INFECTION!!
